7 or 8 lives

Ok, so it´s not as if I don´t do enough already, now I´m trying to crotchet.... The other day one of my history profesors told me he needed 5 lives to do all he wanted. Read, travel,study.... all does basic things!! I totally agree, althought I probably am going to need about 7 or 8.

Some days I´m totally convinced that I´ll manage to juggle my clothing and accesories, my history MA, reading the million of books I have in line, travel, learn french, yoga, socializing...... AHHHHHH there is no way in hell for everything and all that keeps coming up!!! So what´s the result I´m constantly up to something, My dad tells me that I have no idea how to do nothing, but I´m convinced that´s not true. I try to at least for a couple of minutes to simply sit and gaze at the sky.Today it´s deep turquoise, and made me want to go running and jump in the beach.

I couldn´t markets and bazaars are coming up, so I made jewelry and designed the line I´m making for the designer´s market. It´s going to be all colorful and I´m going to use some nice pink leather!! As soon as I have something I´ll post pics so everyone can see!!

I'm so excited!!!
I´m so excited!!! And I just can´t hide it!!!It´s being a great couple of weeks. I have being so busy with so much stuff that i haven't had time to blog!!! I decided to take today off to rest and recharge before starting working for christmas!!!I bet everyone is dying to know why my excitement,well here goes....Two great sites have included my work!!

One is a really great blog about indie finds,
http://.mixedplateblog.com . This site features finds by Liana Miyamura. She has lovely stuff, and she wrote some really nice things about my etsy store!!!
The other site is http://.artbylatinaartists.com This site includes the work of latina artist, disigners and artesanas. Maria Sanchez, editor of the site is also one of the artists featured. She was really nice and said some very encourageing words to me!!
Besides that sales have continued and here at home people are starting to be aware of my work. I totally hope this continue and that christmas brings lots of sales!!! I´m participating in a designers market here RoKa espacio, which is a great gallery space in Santurce. Hopefully I´ll also participate in Cleveland´s Bazaar Bizarre, that is if they pick me.Yesterday I crafted like crazy and did some new necklaces.

New Wave

HMMMM....

Lately I´ve being thinking about learning more about plastics. I really think plastics are my favorite material for my jewelry, so I figured I should try learning how to work it. Problem is I haven´t found any workshops or seminars that give an intro. There´s a lot about metalsmithing, which I taking a beginners course. I totally love it. Who would have figured... I tought fabric was my main thing, and altough I totally love fabric and designing and sewing people are buying my necklaces more than my clothing line!!! I guess my enthusiasm is visible in my work!!! I´m hooked on jewelry!!

Everything has stood still.....

I was sure that all my activity and all those sells in september and the first days of october were signs of things to come. I even told my self that if things continued I would finally quit mu day job. But suddenly everything has stood still... Tha last two weeks have beins SLOWWWWWW!!! Not one sell. Not a single one.

Of course that doesn´t mean that i´ve quit the race. Nope siree!! I´ve being making necklaces and earring. I´ve even addded brooches!!! Real cute with fabric and buttons and lace!! CUTEEE!!

I´m trying really hard not to give up. I question every day why I´ve decided not to dedicate myself to history and teaching. I know deep down it´s because creating brings me in touuch with my inner self. It´s necessary for my happiness. I would not be complete in a life that didn´t included creating and working with my hands. No doubt that a stable job could pay more and give me benefits. But what are they worth if they deadend my inside, my fire. Don´t you think.

The second one I took to my interview on tuesday and the girl interviewing me real liked it. Her name is Christie Miro and the program was Expresarte. It was all real relaxed and everyone was nice and friendly.The only problem was I was a disaster. My contacts had my right eye totally red, I had a huge zit on my forehead. To top it it was raining which for people with curly hair is a disaster!!! I had frizzy and untameable hair!!! JAJAJA!!! Obviously I didn't notice until I left and looked at myself on a hallway mirror!

Changing the subject, I sold another necklace yesterday!! And next week I'm getting together with the guy that is going build my website, so hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be up and running!!! I'll let everyone know!!! Well that's all for now.Bye

A very busy bee!!

Almost a month has gone by, and i haven´t post a thing. In part it´s being laziness, i haven´t gotten around to getting use to blogging. On the other hand I have being working my butt off!! I figured that if I actually wanted to get somewhere with my clothnig and jewelry I had to stop daydreaming about making it happen and start working on achieving it. So I´ve being working workink working like a busy busy bee!! It´s actually working!! I´m being interviewed tomorrow on local program. It showcases young talent, be it in music, art, design. Any form of expression. I have no idea what to expect but I´m kind of excited!!

Also I´ve sold a couple of stuff. Through etsy and here to friends that have come to my studio. The word is getting around, other people have told me about coming to buy!! Hopefully I´ll be able to do this full time real soon.

I´m designing some new clothing and make a bit more elaborate jewelry, also I´ve added wire jewelry and rings!! Tomorrow I´ll post a couple of pics so everyone can see what i am up to. For now I say bye-bye I´m going walking with my Dad!!

Okay , I guess I still haven´t got the grasp of this. I wrote a really long post and poof.... It got erased.

AHHH, Frustrating. I´m not rewritng it again, so I´ll just sum it up.

I´m excited, I sold three necklaces on etsy yesterday!!! Yippeeeee!!!! My biggest sell so far. Hope it´s the start of a constant activity in my page.

The other thing was I listed a new item. Buttons, hearts and a flower bouquet necklace.

Hey, I made a new flyer!!

This weekend has being hectic! To bad it hasn´t being in the crafting sense. Yesterday I cleaned my apartment, that took me forever, later on I had lunch with my dad at a wonderful restaurant right in front of the beach. It wasn´t a sunny day, it actually rained and it was so windy my dad had to lend me his windbreaker, thank god he had it in his backpack!! I then proceeded to spend the night at my in-laws house which is about 45 minutes from my house.

Today My hubby had a thing we had to go to. So I spend the whole day sweating and being sticky and hot, awful. I would say it was probably like 90 degrees. It sure ain´t easy down here in the tropics!!

I got home like at five and I have dedicated myself to sending flyer out in myspace and working on a new flyer on photoshop. I´m kind of rusty on my photoshop skills so it took me forever.I think it came out quite nicely

Never say never

Well I was sure I would never succumb to the blog frenzy that´s in the air lately, but here I am. I read in the forum at www.craftster.org that a blog was a good way to advertise my crafty designs, and I sure as hell need any help I can get to move my etsy store. You see I make handmade clothing and accesories which I sell (mostly I try selling) at my own little online store at this awesome site called www.etsy.com. My store is www.maudesign.etsy.com . It has being a slow start and I´m trying really hard to see if I can finally say I make a living out of my designs, so I´m kind of sad.

Anyways I totally hope this helps .I´ll be posting my crafting and as soon as I figure how to post pictures I´ll show my things to see if any of you blog readers are interested in piece.
